Manu Tuilagi's hopes of making an England comeback have been dealt a blow after he came off in the early stages of Leicester's 16-15 win over Wasps on Sunday.

Tuilagi hasn't played for England in over two years and looked visibly fed up, clutching his pectoral muscle as he left the pitch.

According to Reuters, the injury is on the other side of his chest from the torn pectoral muscle that kept him out for six months in the 2013-14 season and Leicester Tigers head coach Matt O'Connor is hopeful of a quick recovery.

He’s got a pec issue,” O’Connor told reporters. “He was pretty adamant he couldn’t continue, so from that point we know there’s something wrong with Manu.

But he was pretty confident in the changing room it’s not a massive issue.”

Meanwhile, Jonny May also came off in the opening ten minutes with a head knock after collision with Christian Wade.

May and Tuilagi have the benefit of an extra week to recover as it is European Champions Cup quarter-finals weekend and their next game is only against Bath at Twickenham in the Premiership a week later.
