In 2004 she founded, Bonaparte's Retreat a no-kill dog rescue that takes in adoptable dogs at risk of being euthanized at Nashville's animal shelters. Named for one of Harris' own dogs who died in 2002, it is a fixture in the Nashville area, regularly holding adoption and fundraising events, typically with Harris as the headline musician.
