The rancher was their father Homer Bellamy. He had a passion for music, which he passed on to his sons. Howard Bellamy says he and his brother grew up on their family’s Darby, Florida ranch. While their father tended to stock during the week, Saturdays were for music (aided by a little moonshine.) Father Bellamy was a fan of classic country and played in a Western swing band. Howard says the first songs he learned were Jimmie Rodgers tunes. The Bellamy Brothers never had any formal training in music.
