Can SL cricket get any lower?

The humiliation is complete. India romped home yet again in the 3rd Test by an innings and 171 runs. At the end of the 1st game, which skipper Chandimal was not a part of due to a bout of pneumonia, he stated that “India maybe no.1 but we’re not going to lose 3-0”. 20 million disappointed fans beg to differ that statement.

India achieved what they haven’t in 60 years, an away win of 3 Tests. New Zealand were the last team they beat in such fashion back in 1967/68. Sri Lankan batsmen were seeing demons in pitches where none existed, like 11 men suffering from senile dementia.

So where will fingers be pointed at this time? Administration?Inept captaincy? Or the general lack of knowledge of how “Test” cricket should be played?

This excuse that SL cricket is in a “rebuilding phase” is getting a little old. Upul, Angelo, Dinesh, Lasith and Rangana have seen it all before. If nothing else, they should be the ones to lead the rebuilding. But they seem more like passengers than the fresh faces in the team. The One Day series looms ahead. And if drastic changes are not made, starting from admin level, more doom will surely follow.
