Elton John and his husband, David Furnish, are set to file suit against news outlets in France for spreading what he calls "unfounded" rumors about their health.

According to a news magazine in the U.K.' the rock legend's lawyer has said that he is moving forward against three French media companies for reports they published about the couple.

The media outlets involved are Closermag.fr, TeleStar.fr and VSD.

The magazine reported that the lawyer, Vincent Toledano, issued a statement saying his office has been instructed "to pursue through the justice system the violation of the right to respect for their private life due to the publishing . . . of unfounded rumors about their health."

Toledano said the action would be published on Monday.
