Amanda Peterson, most well known for her role in the 1987 rom-com "Can't Buy Me Love," has died at the age of 43.

Her father asked police to check on her after not hearing from her for several days.

He tells TMZ that "She had some illness and a sleep apnea problem that may have contributed."

Authorities do not expect foul play but have not announced an official cause of death.

In "Can't Buy Me Love" Peterson played Cindy Mancini opposite Patrick Dempsey.

In the film, she played an attractive high school student who's paid $1,000 to fake a relationship with a less popular student.

She quit acting in 1994. TMZ reports that in recent years Peterson had gone back to school but dropped out in 2010, and had also been trying her hand at writing.

Peterson is survived by her second husband, David Hartley, and her two children.
