Lionel Richie rocketed to number one on the charts following his performance at Glastonbury. His 2003 album, The Definitive Collection, shot to number one after the Sunday gig.
"When they told me this morning, I was screaming like a kid with his first hit record,"
"I'm trying to be very calm about this, but there's no way you can be calm about this. This is like Christmas."
U.K.'s Official Charts Company notes that the album saw a 2,693 percent sales boost over the past few days. The comp previously reached number ten when it was released.
The Charts Company also notes that nearly half of its top 40 - 17 out of 40 spots - belong to Glasto acts.
The festival was broadcast live by the BBC this year.
