Ringo Starr says that former bandmate Paul MCCartney is doing well after falling ill from a viral infection that forced him to cancel a number of tour dates.

"I spoke to him while he was in hospital," and he said he's doing OK, that he was still in hospital. Now he's out and getting fit and he's getting ready to rock."

"He's doing good," Starr continued. "I text him, and he texts me back.

McCartney will resume his US tour in July and will make up his missed dates this October.
