Bill Wyman, former bassist for the Rolling Stones, will release his first solo album in 33 years, Back to Basics, on June 22 via Proper Records. The 13-track album features eight that are brand new.

While releasing old demos last year, Wyman discovered that he had around 60 songs he'd never released.

"Initially I thought I'm a bit old for this but then I thought all the old blues musicians played till they dropped so why don't I give it a go."
Wyman quit the Stones in 1993, after 31 years with the band.

According to the album's press release, Back to Basics is "unashamedly stripped back" and "wears its influences on its sleeve."

Those influences include Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, and JJ Cale, adds the presser.
