Nile Rodgers has released "I'll Be There," the first cut from Chic's upcoming album, It's About Time.

On his website, Nile explains that "I'll Be There" began as an outtake from a Sister Sledge track called "Love Somebody."

"The outtake became a new song called, 'I'll Be There,' so named because when I discovered my band's co-founder Bernard Edwards' body a few hours after he'd passed away, I said, 'Now, I can be there for you in death, the way you were there for me in life.'"

"This could play at a '70s roller rink, basement rave or the champagne-crackingest Vegas club and still sound on-point," writes the LA Times of the new cut.

It's About Time, Chic's first album in 23 years, lands this summer.

Rodgers will play live April 23rd at his We Are Family Foundation gala he produces with Nancy Hunt in NYC at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
