Nile Rodgers recently talked about his reunion with legendary disco group Chic, saying that the band plans to release its first full length record since 1992's Chic-ism in June.
He told Rolling Stone that he was motivated by the passing of Chic guitarist Bernard Edwards, who died in 1996.
"1996 may seem like a long time ago, but it feels like yesterday to me . . . as well as an eternity. The name of the song is 'I'll Be There'.
The reason is: after I found Bernard's body, I said to him, 'Now, I can be there for you in death, the way you were there for me in life.'"
"It felt like I had a chance for my band to be reborn and should just live one more time," Rodgers adds.
"It's like you broke open a time capsule and you have a record that never came out."
