Sting is among the latest performers to receive the Kennedy Center Honors.

He was feted, along with Tom Hanks, Al Green, Lily Tomlin and Patricia McBride, at the White House by president Barack Obama on Sunday, December 7.

"Sting makes me feel like a musical Neanderthal. When we get together, we always have the same argument," said Bruce Springsteen, toasting the former Police fronter.

"He insists that there are more than three chords, while I insist that there are not. In an age of musical homogenization, no one has ever sounded or sang like my friend."

The Kennedy Honors "celebrate five extraordinary individuals who have spent their lives elevating the cultural vibrancy of our nation and the world," according to a presser.

The event, hosted by Stephen Colbert, will air December 30 on CBS.
