The 17th National War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony will take place this afternoon (19) near the War Heroes Monument in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will preside over the event, which marks the remembrance of fallen military personnel.

In tandem with the commemorations, 5,289 members of the tri-forces received promotions yesterday (18).

The Chairman of the Ranaviru Seva Authority, Retired Brigadier S.B. Kohona, stated that family members of war heroes received greater opportunities in this year's ceremony.

Meanwhile, authorities implemented a special traffic plan today in conjunction with the National War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony.
