Athlete Gamini Sugathadasa achieved an outstanding feat at the 2026 Boston Marathon yesterday (21), completing the marathon in just 2 hours, 36 minutes and 32 seconds—the best performance on American soil by a Sri Lankan in his age group.

Gamini would often say “Never give up and keep moving forward”—a testament to his devotion and skill, being a single father whilst balancing his job as a Bellman at the Four Seasons hotel in Las Vegas.

He went on to secure first place in his age category (55-59) and won a gold medal for Sri Lanka.
