Efforts to restore electricity are underway following reports of 17,000 power breakdowns across the country despite the termination of the Electricity trade union action, union representatives stated.

The two-day strike concluded yesterday (11) afternoon after a discussion involving Deputy Labour Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe and relevant authorities.

The labour dispute began as a symbolic strike on the evening of the 9th involving 24 unions before escalating into an indefinite walkout.

Workers launched the protest, citing a lack of official communication regarding appointment letters or designated departments following the liquidation of the Ceylon Electricity Board.
