Bruce Springsteen was among the stars who performed at the concert for World AIDS Day in New York City's Times Square on Monday, December 1.
The concert benefited the HIV/AIDS charity (RED).
The Boss and Chris Martin of Coldplay filled in for for the injured Bono of U2.
The band thanked the pair on their Facebook page.
"Appearing at the personal invitation of U2, Springsteen and Martin have graciously donated their time and talents to save the World AIDS Day event from cancellation."
Others to take the stage included Carrie Underwood and Kanye West.
"This year is a World AIDS Day like no other," said Bono, in a statement.
"The world reached a tipping point in the fight against AIDS - more people were newly added to life-saving treatment than were newly infected with the virus. A lot of people are calling it the beginning of the end of AIDS."
