President Anura Kumara Dissanayake instructed officials to explore the feasibility of integrating other transport modes with the railway system via main stations when creating multimodal transport hubs.

These instructions were given during a discussion held today (12) with officials from the Ministry of Transport and Highways regarding the strategic plan to ensure a quality transport service.

The formulation of policies for the introduction of electric buses is expected to be completed within a few months.

The discussion also focused on digitalizing the transport system and streamlining digital payment methods to enhance efficiency and transparency.
