Namal Rajapaksa, National Organiser of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), questioned why members of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) cannot simply call Basil Rajapaksa if they need to speak with him, given their history of working together during the 2005 Presidential Election.

Speaking to the media after an event in Thihariya, Gampaha, the MP addressed recent inquiries regarding Basil Rajapaksa's whereabouts.

He remarked that the current Minister in charge of the police was the same individual who brought forward similar cases during the 2015 Anti-Corruption Committee.

Namal Rajapaksa stated that he is ready to appear whenever summoned and mockingly added that he could even bring the family dog along next time.

He further questioned whether the country has truly benefited from the removal of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa from his official residence, suggesting that the government is merely following a "pickpocket theory" to distract the public.

He alleged that the government’s focus on cutting MP pensions and removing privileges is a tactic to hide their failure to address major issues like the coal scam, the disappearance of hundreds of containers from the port, and the needs of those affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
