Ian McLagan, keyboardist for the Faces and the Small Faces, died at the age of 69 from stroke complications.

He passed in his adopted hometown of Austin, Texas. The news was announced on his official website.

"It is with great sadness and eternal admiration that we report the passing of a rock and roll icon."

Ian was part of the Small Faces in the 1960s. The band became the Faces when Rod Stewart and Ron Wood joined in 1969.

"I am completely devastated by this shocking news and I know this goes for Ronnie (Wood) and Rod (Stewart) also," Kenny Jones, the Faces' drummer, wrote in a statement.

McLagan was prepping for a North American tour with Nick Lowe at the time of his death.

McLagan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
