Popular actor Hemal Ranasinghe received bail from the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court today (3) after being taken into custody over an alleged assault.

The Magistrate ordered his release on a personal bail of Rs. 100,000 after considering the facts of the case.

The Wellawatte Police received a complaint against him regarding an incident involving the physical assault of a social media activist on January 8.

Although authorities summoned him several times to provide a statement, he surrendered to the police through a lawyer earlier today.
