Opposition members expressed support for ongoing demonstrations against the current government's education reforms, deemed unfavorable to the student community.

Former State Minister Professor Channa Jayasumana, representing the Sarvajana Balaya party, voiced these views while participating in the second day of a continuous satyagraha protest in front of the Ministry of Education in Battaramulla today (13).

Jayasumana commended the leadership of Wimal Weerawansa in challenging the administration's policies despite potential obstacles.

He further asserted that incorrect decisions made by the Prime Minister are leading to the decline of both school and university-level higher education across several sectors.

The professor urged the government to address these concerns immediately to prevent further damage to the educational system.
