The Ella Odyssey tourist train returned to service today (07), following a temporary suspension due to recent disasters.

The Railway Department announced that the train is scheduled to run every Wednesday from Ambewela to Badulla.

Additionally, the Pulathisi Intercity service will operate every Friday from Colombo Fort to Batticaloa and every Sunday from Batticaloa to Colombo Fort starting this Friday.

Officials plan to increase the frequency of these trips based on future passenger demand.

Furthermore, specialised school train services commenced on January 5 between Kandy and Wattegama, as well as Nawalapitiya and Hatton.

This marks the first time trains moved through these specific sections since the recent weather-related disruptions.
