Former Minister Johnston Fernando and his younger son were escorted to the Wattala Magistrate's Court today (5) following their arrest by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID).

The arrests took place this morning after the two appeared before the division to provide statements.

The legal action stems from allegations involving the misuse of a lorry belonging to the state-owned Sathosa institution.

Investigators claim the unauthorised use of the vehicle resulted in a significant financial loss to the government.
