Evergreen Group emerges as Lanka’s largest tea producer for eighth consecutive year

Evergreen Group, situated in Horangalla, Thalgaswela in the Galle District, produced and sold the highest quantity of tea by a group in Sri Lanka in 2025, recording sales of 10,379,568 kg and emerging as the country’s largest tea producing group for the eighth consecutive year.
The Group produces both Orthodox and CTC teas and employs over 4,000 people from the surrounding areas. Its factories are ISO certified, with around 30,000 smallholders supplying green leaf to the operations.
Evergreen Group is one of Sri Lanka’s largest tea producers, operating 13 factories, namely Evergreen, Brombil, Thundola, Talangaha, Katandola, Wathurawila, Walahanduwa, Hill Garden, Rekadahena, Kanneliya, Lihiniyawa, Marakanda and Devithurai.
Aruna de Silva serves as Chairman of the Evergreen Group of Companies, while overall operations are led by Senal de Silva (Deputy Chairman), Minul de Silva (Director), Dushara Shanka (Director, Rekadahena Plantations), and Lasantha de Alwis (Group General Manager).
