Akalanka Peiris crowned Sri Lanka’s top FINA point scorer

Swimming champion Akalanka Peiris became the highest FINA point scorer for the Sri Lanka national team after an outstanding performance at the National Short Course Swimming Championship. He earned this distinction by securing 716 points in the 50m backstroke event.

The athlete currently undergoes training in Melbourne, Australia. Returning to compete in the Junior and Senior National Short Course Swimming Championships after a three-year hiatus, he claimed the national men's title and won a total of five medals.

Peiris secured gold medals in the 50m, 100m, and 200m backstroke events, as well as the 200m individual medley, while also earning a silver medal in the 100m individual medley.
