The Colombo Chief Magistrate, Asanga S. Bodaragama, today (16) ordered the further remand until December 22 of an individual arrested by the Bribery Commission (CIABOC) on charges of creating fake identity cards and false documents to pose as an officer of the Commission.

The Bribery Commission informed the court that the suspect had created identity cards to deceive people, presenting himself as both an officer of the Bribery Commission and an Assistant Prison Officer.

Following this submission, the court ordered the suspect to be further remanded.

The court issued the order after considering the facts related to a complaint lodged by an individual from Panadura.

The investigating officers also informed the court that the suspect had violated Section 124 of the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 09 of 2023.

The suspect, a resident of the Goraka Pola area in Panadura, was arrested by the Commission's investigating officers on December 3, 2025, at approximately 6:58 PM, in front of the Panadura bus stop.
