Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones says that James Brown was an early inspiration, albeit one whom he didn't emulate very well.
Speaking with reporters, he said that he couldn't pull off the Godfather of Soul's moves.
"I tried some of his moves," he began. "I did very bad imitations but they were fun."
"You're in this phase of your career when you're 19 or 20 when you're basically doing cover versions and copying other people.
Everybody did it and, if you got any good, you evolved your own style."
Jagger was part of the production team that worked on a biopic of the late Brown, Get On Up.
Mick told the reporters that he's enjoying some parts of the movie making biz.
"I'm not really interested in the business of producing films, though it's a necessary evil - you have to do the deals. But there's the literary part of it - how does the story develop, where will all the characters end up?
There's casting, music, a lot of facets. If you're not interested in one, you can get interested in another.
And I like working with big groups of people. I'm quite collaborative, and I like everyone else to be."
