La Toya Jackson secretly got engaged to her long-term business partner Jeffré Phillips last August.

The 58-year-old singer has announced she plans to tie the knot with her business partner Jeffré Phillips, who popped the question while the pair were holidaying in Hawaii last August.

The star was completely caught off guard when Jeffré got down on one knee so ''it wasn't a fast yes''.

The TV personality, who is the fifth child of the Jackson family, is completely smitten with her fiancé, who she has always seen as her ''best friend''.

She enthused: ''I was in total shock. We're best friends and we've been business partners forever. It was always professional - no one really crossed those boundaries.''

The romantic proposal involved Jeffré arranging a romantic dinner of La Toya's favourite foods, including chicken soup, before surprising her with a 17.5 carat diamond ring.

Her new reality show, 'Life with La Toya', premieres on the 7th of June.
