David Bowie apparently did a lot of cocaine in the 1970s.
Two musicians who previously worked with Bowie claim that much of the singer's success can be attributed to cocaine.
Carlos Alomar and Nile Rodgers spoke with reporters in a recent interview, with the former saying, "In order for him to stay up all night and finish the tasks at hand, it was a huge factor.
Its function was to keep you alert, and that's what he was doing. It did not stop his creativity at all."
Alomar said the cocaine affected their concerts occasionally with Bowie forgetting lyrics. It was Alomar's job to take over lead vocals until Bowie could find his place in the song.
Bowie's 1973 album Pin Ups is one the singer can't even recall making, Rodgers said.
