Doobie Brothers guitarist Patrick Simmons says he's excited to take part in the Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run 2014 along with his wife Cris.

The ride goes from Florida to Washington, covering over 4,000 miles in the process.

"Cris and I are excited, and so ready to head out on the 2014 Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run," Patrick said on the Doobies' website. "We have been working on our bikes for over a year now."

Patrick's bike is a 1929 Harley-Davidson, while Cris rides a 1935 HD.

Last year, Cris and Patrick's son, Pat Jr., successfully battled testicular cancer.

The ride goes down from September 5-21. The Cannonball Run began in 2010 as a ride to showcase antique motorcycles built before 1915.

It has since evolved into a cross-country endurance ride held every other year with over 100 participants, which now includes bikes built before 1936.
