A David Bowie exhibition, titled David Bowie Is, is headed to Australia after successful runs in London, Toronto, Chicago Sao Paulo and Berlin.

The exhibit will show at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne until July 2015.

According to the Reports, the Thin White Duke gave curators access to his private archive - which features over 75,000 items - in order to put the show together.

"It is an archive of his own designs, drawings, ideas, photographs, costumes and so on," said the curator of the London show, Victoria Broackes.

The exhibition explors Bowie's collaborations with artists and designers in the fields of fashion, sound, graphics, theatre, art and film.

Alongside these are more personal items like storyboards, handwritten set lists and lyrics, as well as some of Bowie's own sketches, musical scores and diary entries.
