She has been inspired by her character for her promotional appearances ahead of the release of Maleficent, favouring black outfits.

But Angelina Jolie saved the piece de resistance for the movie’s wold premiere in Hollywood yesterday.

The actress was all about the black magic in a dramatic strapless ebony leather gown, complete with a theatrical train Sleeping Beauty’s antagonist would be proud of.

Angelina is spellbinding wherever she goes, but no doubt jaws were dropping as she arrived on the red carpet in the elaborate dress, which had ruched detailing and was cinched in at her tiny waist.

The 38-year-old added to her villainous look with spiked gold cuffs and a matching earring, along with sky high black shoes that featured pencil thin stiletto heels.

Angelina also showed off smoky eye make-up and black nail polish, and tied her chestnut brown locks into a sleek ponytail.

She was joined by her fiancé Brad Pitt and five of their six children, Maddox, 12, Pax, 10, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, eight, and five-year-old Knox - although not his twin sister Vivienne, who plays a young Aurora in the film.
