Foreigner is the latest classic rock act to be inducted into the Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame.

The group obtained entrance by beating out the Cars in the final round of the tourney-style, fan-voted competition.

In the first round, Foreigner beat out Peter Gabriel, then slipped past Cheap Trick in the semi-finals.

Previous inductees include Heart (June), Rush (May), Lynyrd Skynyrd (February), Styx (January), the Doobie Brothers (December 2013), the Faces (November), Rod Stewart (October), George Harrison (August), T Rex (July), Fleetwood Mac (June), Pink Floyd (May), the Beatles (April), and the Kinks(March).

Foreigner will release its upcoming seven disc box set, Foreigner - The Complete Atlantic Studio Albums 1977-1991 on October 13.

The set includes the group's first seven studio albums, as well as a number of bonus tracks.
