Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers took the stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to play "American Dream Plan B" from their latest record Hypnotic Eye.

Kimmel brought his show and studio audience to Petty's Culver City, California rehearsal space where the two chatted before the performance.

"We've been here for three weeks, I think. It's nice to have everybody drop by," joked Petty. "We never dreamed this would happen, but here we are, you know?"

Petty and the Heartbreakers also played two other songs from the new record - "Forgotten Man" and "U Get Me High."

The band kicked off their Hypnotic Eye tour on in San Diego.
