Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry says that he is about halfway done with his next solo album.

Perry says that while he isn't entirely sure what's next for Aerosmith, he knows a main focus of his is his solo work.

"I really don't know what's coming up next," Perry says. "I think we should stick to our guns and keep making records … and promote them our own way.

I know [singer Steven Tyler] wants to do a solo record. I'm halfway through a solo album right now.

I've got about six songs I'm really excited about. I want to get into them as soon as possible.

That's the main focus now." Perry adds that he is also focused on his new book Rocks: My Life In and Out of Aerosmith.
