Roger Daltrey is helping out with the erection of an international railway museum to be built in Ashford, Kent.

Who said the museum would remind Britons of their country's role in the development of the train:

"Britain forgets that we invented the railway and it conquered the world," he began.

"The railway was the first thing to open up the world in a big way for trade. We invented it, and we should be proud of that. The model making side of it, it's enormous."

Daltrey also called model trains his "number one passion":

"The great thing about model railways is you can be doing a bit of woodwork, a bit of painting, a bit of this, a bit of that, and have fun with your mates."

The museum would consist of 20 permanent model layouts plus a rotating cast of temporary layouts.
