Sri Lanka won its first gold medal at the 6th Asian Beach Games when Air Force wrestler Nipuni Wasana Dharmadasa dominated the women’s 50kg category final.

Nipuni Wasana, representing the Sri Lanka Air Force, defeated her Vietnamese opponent Doan Thi Kim Oanh in the final, bringing Sri Lanka's total medal count to seven including other achievements in beach athletics and beach kabaddi.

According to the Sri Lanka Air Force, this victory is Sri Lanka’s maiden gold medal at the 2026 edition of the Asian Beach Games.

The 6th Asian Beach Games, which began on April 22 in Sanya, China, will conclude tomorrow (30).
