The most anticipated concert of the year, The Gold FM 70’s Show was held at the picturesque South Lawn of the Taj Samudra, Colombo on the 17th of December. Since this much loved year end musical extravaganza was not held since 2015, the hype and anticipation surrounding this gala concert was immense. And Sri Lanka’s No.1 station, Gold FM, did not disappoint.
The evening kicked off with the award winning choral group, Choro Calibre, who got the thousands in attendance into the true yuletide spirit, by rendering classic Christmas favourites.
Next up was Billy Fernando with 242 who absolutely blew the audience away with a mesmerizing performance and backed popular singer Clifford Richards, who himself did a stellar job.
The very entertaining De Lanerolle Brothers took the stage next, who with their own style had the audience captivated and singing throughout their entire set.
One of Sri Lanka’s most popular outfits, Misty, then stole the show with their charismatic brand of on-stage persona and also backed popular singers Janaka and Radhika.
The night rounded off with The Redeemers taking the stage to yet another rousing performance and backed evergreen artists Corrine Almeida and Sohan Weerasinghe.
