Aritha Franklin developed a fear of flying and would only tour where she could travel by bus. In 1994, she charted in the Top 40 with “A Rose Is Still a Rose” and reprised her role in “Blues Brothers 2000.” She stood in for singer Luciano Pavarotti, accepting his 1998 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and singing a soul-infused version of his aria “Nessun dorma.”
