The General Manager of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), Electrical Engineer Shirley Kumara, stated that there will be no power disconnections for electricity consumers in disaster-affected areas.
He pointed out that the CEB will not disconnect power in these areas due to unpaid bills.
Instead, the outstanding amount will be added to future monthly bills, and no disconnections will occur at this time.
The General Manager added that meter readings cannot be taken and bills cannot be distributed in many disaster-affected areas.
Therefore, the relevant bills will be made available to consumers in the coming months, and no power disconnections will take place whatsoever at this time.
The CEB General Manager also mentioned that the CEB itself incurred a substantial loss due to the disaster caused by the adverse weather, and the extent of this loss is currently being calculated.
