The flood warning issued for the Mahaweli River Basin was extended for another 48 hours, according to the Irrigation Department.

In its bulletin, the department urged residents in vulnerable and low-lying areas to remain on high alert as rising water levels could increase the risk of flooding.

Authorities called on the public to take all necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

Disaster management agencies were instructed to continue monitoring the situation closely and take appropriate response measures as required.
