The examination duties of the deputy hall invigilator at the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination center in Poonagari Nallur Maha Vidyalaya, Kilinochchi, were suspended starting today (24). In addition, the official is prohibited from entering the examination hall.

Reports indicate the deputy head invigilator arrived at the examination hall for duty on November 21while under the heavy influence of alcohol. While performing his duties, he reportedly started an argument with two other people serving at the examination center and behaved in a violent manner.

Following a complaint lodged with the authorities, a preliminary inquiry was held against the deputy head invigilator. Since the inquiry confirmed he was intoxicated, steps were taken to immediately remove him from his examination duties.

Reports state that after his removal from exam duties, a separate investigation against this official began at the Ministry of Education level.
