Namal Rajapaksa, National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and Member of Parliament, stated that opposition forces globally worked together against oppressive governments despite policy differences between them.

He said there exist policy differences among the current opposition parties as well and waiting for all opposition parties to agree on one policy would allow the government to completely crush and destroy the future hopes of the citizens and the nation.

The statement was made by Rajapaksa on Wednesday evening (12) during a special meeting held with the United National Party (UNP) at the office of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Flower Road in Colombo.

The meeting focused on the future activities of the Nugegoda rally on November 21.

Representing the SLPP were Namal Rajapaksa, Sagara Kariyawasam, Johnston Fernando, and Sanjeeva Edirimanna.

Representing the UNP were Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sagala Ratnayaka, Rosy Senanayake, Sunethra Ranasinghe, and a group of UNP regional representatives from the Colombo district.

Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader Udaya Gammanpila also attended the meeting as a special invitee.

During the meeting, Sanjeeva Edirimanna unveiled 21 reasons to attend the Nugegoda rally.

Sagala Ratnayaka, addressing Namal, requested, "Please provide your transport plan to us early. Then we can arrange for our members to join those buses."

Namal responded to Sagala's request by saying, "Then I will add a few more buses to Colombo, otherwise you will have to travel on the footboard."

The entire assembly grew enthusiastic when Namal expressed, "Next time, I would like to meet you at Sirikotha. I have never been inside Sirikotha." He then added, "Let us meet another day, have a black coffee, and talk." The enthusiasm was evident by the applause mixed with whistles.

As Namal concluded his speech and prepared to leave the meeting hall, a selfie session commenced.

Almost everyone present posed for a photograph with Rajapaksa
