Executive Director jailed over environmental damage allegation

The Executive Director of a private company, who was taken into custody on the charge of causing environmental damage within the Aruwakkalu archaeological site, was remanded until November 25.
The court order came after he was produced before the Puttalam Magistrate's Court yesterday (11).
The suspect was arrested yesterday by the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Strike Force.
This followed approximately 12 hours of recording statements from him.
The Walana Central Anti-Corruption Strike Force is conducting investigations into this matter based on a petition submitted to the Inspector General of Police by the residents of the Wanathawilluwa area.
