Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation General Limited (SLIC General) has announced the appointment of Dr. Sameera Dharmasena as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2025.

He is an insurance professional with over two decades of leadership experience in the industry, with a proven track record in strategic transformation, operational excellence, and industry innovation.

Dr. Dharmasena began his career at Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation (SLIC). Prior to this role, he held senior executive positions in leading insurance institutions, including subsidiaries of major Sri Lankan conglomerates. He also possesses multinational exposure, including a tenure at Allianz Life Insurance Lanka.

He previously served as the President of the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute, the only insurance education body in Sri Lanka affiliated with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), the UK-based professional body.

He holds a PhD in Business Management from Girne American University, Cyprus, an MBA from the University of Colombo, a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science from the University of Kelaniya, and an LLB from the Open University of Sri Lanka.

He is also an Associate Member of the Insurance Institute of India, a Fellow Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII), UK, and a Chartered Insurer.
