Meet the first ever modified Jawa motorcycle.

Jawa Forty Two, launched in India at the end of last year, has found favor among buyers in India despite extended waiting period. The company claims that Jawa and Jawa Forty Two are sold out till September 2019, but that production will be ramped up so as to effect timely delivery.

One Benguluru based customer has been among the lucky buyers to have already taken delivery of the Jawa Forty Two. He desired to get his Jawa Forty Two modified for a meaner stance and it was Bombay Custom Works, a Mumbai based motorcycle custom shop that has successfully completed this job.

This bike has been given a café racer treatment in an all black colour scheme. Though the Jawa Forty Two continues to show off its retro stance, it does get modified to exude quite a unique appearance.

For starters, the modifiers have given the engine and exhaust a matte black paint and the same colour scheme extends to the rims and rear brake hub. The seat of the Jawa Forty Two which sported longer dimensions in its original format now gets chopped while the pillion seat has been replaced by a cowl.

Front and rear mudguards also get reduced while the LED tail lamp is fitted closer to the frame for a cleaner rear end. The modifiers have also removed the stock handle bars and replaced them with clip on units so as to offer a better riding position though foot pegs have not been altered. The front headlamp sports a cross sticker to complete the modifications to the Jawa Forty Two.

No mechanics have been altered and the Jawa Forty Two emerges from Bombay Custom Works with its stock engine. This 293cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC engine which is borrowed from Mahindra Mojo, offers 27 bhp power and 28 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed constant mesh gearbox.

Royal Enfield Classic Stealth Black

The engine complies with new Bharat Stage VI emission norms. Suspension is via telescopic forks in the front and hydraulic twin shocks at the rear while braking is through 280mm disc brake with ABS in the front and 153mm drum brake at the rear.

Bombay Custom Works, located in the outskirts of Mumbai has not revealed cost of this modification. One of their custom models ‘Barood’ was also awarded the best custom build motorcycle at the 2015 Rider Mania of the Royal Enfield.
