TV cops Starsky and Hutch were again using four wheels to get around today but not in quite the same way as they did in the 1970s.

Actor Paul Michael Glaser pushed his old friend David Soul into Liverpool’s Comic Con in a wheelchair, as his iconic red Ford Gran Torino sat on the road outside.

The pair, both 73, were attending a session about their former roles as the legendary detective duo, best known for tearing around the streets of California between 1975-79. They were joined by co-star Antonio Fargas, who played Huggy Bear.

Slipper-wearing Soul told the audience: “One thing that’s great is that the three of us have remained really good friends and that’s very rare and I’m really grateful for that.”

In recent years Soul, who lives in north London with his fifth wife and became a British citizen in 2004, has appeared increasingly frail, using a stick to get around.
