Emma Stone won best actress for her performance in the Los Angeles-set musical, while La La Land director Damien Chazelle won best director. The Oscar favourite also won in the music and cinematography categories.
The BAFTAs are Britain’s equivalent of the Oscars, with La La Land winning five gongs in total from 11 nominations.
Earlier, Nicole Kidman turned heads wearing a seriously revealing frock with a low-cut, JLo-esque neckline to the usually conservative awards.
But not everyone was impressed by Kidman’s dress sense — notably, her daughters.
“It’s too low. If they’d had their say I wouldn’t have been allowed out in it because it’s low cut,” Kidman told Daily Mail.
“They would have gone, “No, mum. That’s a rude dress.” They like me more in dresses that make me look like a fairy or a princess.”
Kidman continued the metallic trend also seen on Stone, Michelle Williams and Sophie Turner.
