Yusef, formerly known as Cat Stevens, has gone back into the studio to re-record his first two U.K. singles, "I Love My Dog" and "Matthew and Son."

The recordings were direct to acetate cessions. On Wednesday, Yusef made "I Love My Dog" available for streaming through NPR.

He released "I Love my Dog" in 1966 at the age of 18. It peaked at number 28 on the U.K. charts.

His next single, "Matthew and Son" did significantly better and became the titular cut for his debut album.

The new recordings were done at Jack White's Third Man Records.

This year marks 50 years since the release of "I Love My Dog."

Both of the new songs will be released on seven-inch vinyl on Black Friday.
