Sting was the recent recipient of the American Music Award of Merit, which recognized the artist's career.
Prior to accepting the award, Sting performed a medley of songs spanning his catalog.
The songs ranged from classic hits from his days as the frontman of the Police to newly recorded material.
The singer-songwriter began the performance with his newest single, "I Can't Stop Thinking About You.
" The medley then launched into "Message in a Bottle," and morphed into several more of Sting's hits, including "Every Breath You Take."
Sting has had a busy year. Over the summer he conducted an extensive tour with Peter Gabriel.
Earlier in November Sting performed the first concert at the newly reopened Bataclan—the site of the Paris attacks just one year earlier.
On November 11 the singer released his 12th solo LP, 57th and 9th.
Sting plans to tour in support of the new album beginning in February.%MCEPASTEBIN%
